I have never
received a flower
or even a rose
But I'm a guy
so it's acceptable
I guess
no surprises
no treats
no kisses
that signifies
one's feelings for me
no token of one's love
but I've gotten
disappointment
watered with hate
and planted in betrayal
fertilized by the lies
and maintained by the fakes
Actually, roses are red
but mine is dead
and crumbled beneath my feet.
