Her name...

Her name is that of a flower

much like the ones you find

in the middle of a beautiful field

just living life and being so beautiful

without much effort

just swaying in the wind

and kissing the morning sunshine

smiling at the ladybugs 

as they flit by

she is just like that flower

innocent

a part of nature and 

a glorious sight for sore eyes 

I long to pick her 

and put her in a vase

to capture her essence

but alas,  we all know what happens

when we take a flower from 

its natural home

and ask it to live to its fullest

while its roots are drowning in tap water.

What's life without that dream..

that gives you sleepless nights

that sets your heart on fire

a burning desire.

That makes you restless

until you meet with success

with finesse

nothing less.

That which makes you chase it 

that which doesn't let you quit 

your heart and soul, you submit

to live it

to be it.

I have seen the magic..

I have seen the magic of tall mountains 

blood red sunsets sinking down on my life

walked oak wooded dales and leafy larch lanes.

But I really wish you were here.

Kicked up soft sand on a pink coral beach 

run barefoot through fields of barley and corn

felt fresh falling rain on my upturned face.

But I really wish you were here.

To share one moment of lavender scent 

laughter and light as you walk in the room

may I forfeit all the wonders I've seen 

for a touch, a mere whisper of you .

I scan velvet skies for your star each night

oh, I really wish you were here.

the sun on the mountain tops

melting through the ice

and see an ocean

of blue and green light

I never knew those smiles

It's like a breath of fresh air

like a taste of freedom

that I've never had before

the moon shining right back

the light from the stars

waiting for you and me

Rain...

I sat by the window on the chair

with a cup of tea 

resting my feet 

trying to forget me.

Watched the rain

dripping on the window pane

again and again

but never the same.

Drops racing 

sometimes embracing

colliding

and disappearing.

Wish I wasn't here

want you near

but that turns to tears

everytime you appear.

And still the rain drips

drinking tea in slow sips

knowing my heart flips 

as we are passing ships.

Awake..

The night casts its long shadow over my flesh and blood 

yet my body chooses not to fall 

into the natural rhythms of slumber 

my eyelids are made of stone and are locked securely in place

my imagination runs amok and dreams fill up my void

the singing crickets punctuates the conversation with myself

days long since past are still fresh in my memory

I feel like ideas are surging through my head 

ready to burst through my eardrums

but my arms and legs do not match my metaphysical wishes

they are numb and useless

like a slow a river 

the bed seems to carry me to eternity

gently taking me to a place far away

I need to rest so badly 

the pangs of responsibility echo through my being

I have things to do  

I have people to meet

Its a curse

to never be able to match the cycle of the light 

to bear witness to the passing of time

locked in a coffin of consciousness

the sun is back 

its time to drag this empty husk out of bed

light pours through the blinds in an endless stream

No arouse yourself from this folly

the shadow still remains

you were always wide awake

hopelessly thinking of tomorrow

pondering this night until daybreak.
